Drip Feed Content

Can the Membership Suite handle "drip-feeding" content by individual membership? I want to sell a membership where the content is revealed progressively. If New Member A joins this week, they would see only week 1 content until week 2 arrived. Then they'd see week 1 and week 2 content. Each successive week's content would be revealed as time passed. Each time a new member joins, their content would be revealed in the same sequence but starting from the beginning.
This is intended to prevent new members from joining, downloading all content in the first period and then bailing.
If this isn't a feature, would it be possible to add it?
Sorry if this has been covered in another post or in a tutorial I haven't yet seen. I did a search but didn't turn up anything for my terms.
Thanks!

This is something I've had on

This is something I've had on the backburner for a couple of months, and I actually have a prototype module called ms_drip that can do this. It isn't ready for release yet, though, but the gist of it is that it adds user access to the content over time, just like what you said. It also allows an email to be sent to the user when new content has been added to him.

I was planning on creating a new pack with some extra-functionality modules like this (and some others) and selling it as an add-on pack for $19.95. Thoughts?

Sincerely,

ms_drip sounds like what I'm looking for...

Appreciate the response.
Sounds like ms_drip is exactly what I'm looking for. Making it an add-on pack would be fine with me, especially at the reasonable price you suggest. It's probably not something everyone would want anyway.
Any sense of when it could be available?
Thanks!

I have some other things that I need to do before this gets a chance, so I'm thinking two to three weeks before a release. Meanwhile, if you or anyone else could go over some of the features and functionality that a module like this should have, we can ensure I don't miss anything important.

Here are some of my ideas.

Be able to set various (variable) dates for content availability. Ex. Member joins, get first file immediately. then second is 2 weeks and third is one week after that. so each file or content can be set with its own publish date.

If the file is dated it should show the current date for that member when published. If I see the second file on Jan 2 and you have joined after me when you get the same file it would show a current date for you such as March 9. This is even though it is the same file. That way it would always look like new content for everyone.

Have an option to show future content titles / subject when they will be available. This gives them something to look forwart to. It could be just the next publish date or the dates for all upcoming content. This should be an admin choice to show.

Additional Ideas

-- Allow comments on content with an option to keep them attached (probably minus posting dates to keep from looking old) so that future members see the earlier members' comments and moderator replies.
-- Provide different content streams based on membership type, i.e., "A" class member gets content A1, A1, A3; "AB" class gets A1, B1, A2, B2, A3, etc. This isn't a deal killer if it's not easily done. Could also be handled just by us setting up different membership sites for the different classes. But it would be handy not to have to duplicate content.
-- Allow all content types including downloads, etc. as part of membership. (with other modules if necessary)
-- ability to add/delete/update content and sequence at any point so that the new sequence is what new members see.
-- Definitely need the ability to sequence at variable periods as traveler suggested so that it's not based on actual dates but completely flexible number of days from start date for each content packet, or from the previous content packet release.
-- Allow more than one piece of content to have the same release period, e.g., a video, text post and audio page could all be made available the same day by having the same release period.
-- Ability to broadcast new or revised content to all members simultaneously

Thanks for agreeing to get the drip-feed option into the program. Will help tremendously and should provide more sales opportunities for the program.

That would be a nice

That would be a nice functionality and some dollars worth it.

What regards functionality:
* I would require a start date for contents. I have contents that are only relevant a specific period of the year. If the user registers on Nov, 2nd then he should see content that is marked for this period (11/1-11/7).
* The content should also disappear afterwards, not necessarily directly afterwards, so it could remain until end of Nov.

Let us know when the module is available.
