Hi,
I'm looking at the membership suite - and I need some specific things
related to memberships.
Scenario;
A member (coach) has a number of qualifications, as well as a bio,
picture and a number of coaching locations (google map locators / multiple addresses)....
How can I extend the membership suite (presuming that the above functionality
isn't available)? Write an addon module - or is this something that could be
added to the membership suite relatively easily?

That kind of information is best handled in Drupal 7 by the Profile 2 module (http://drupal.org/project/profile2) which can be configured to collect information about users.
That way, you can have users register and choose their plan, then they can fill in their profile when they have paid. You could even have the users fill out their profiles during registration I believe, though I prefer to collect that information afterwards.
