There are a few cool new features coming in Membership Suite 5.8, and I am going to go over them here. They are the 'Expiring Soon' email reminders and the 'Membership Renewal' workflow.

One thing that I've been working on for the past couple of months is an easy and intuitive way for users to renew their membership, without having to wait until their current membership expires, and without having to lose days they have paid for.

What I've come up with is an easy Renewal system that allows users to renew their Memberships with a single link. They are taken to PayPal to pay the Membership Fee, and then their expiration date of their membership is updated and extended the proper amount automatically.

I can now create an 'Expiring Soon' email that will notify a user a set number of days before their Membership expires, and include in it a Renewal Link so that they can easily renew their Membership.

For example, if I have a membership plan where the users pay $25 for 1 month access, and one of my subscribers is 5 days away from expiration, I can set up an 'Expiring Soon' email to be sent to the user informing them that their Membership is going to expire soon, and providing them with a renewal link they can click to add days. Once the user clicks this link, they are taken to PayPal and their expiration date is increased by 1 month (so it will now expire in 1 month and 5 days - no days are lost!). This is super intuitive for users and for me, so I am really excited about it.

One major advantage of this is that users can now renew their membership instead of always having to purchase new membership, which gets messy and confusing.

Currently, this is only working for Non-Recurring Subscription Memberships, but I am working on Recurring Subscription Membership support for the next version.
