The upcoming 4.1 release of Paypal Subscriptions will include an option to show users an 'Unsubscribe' link/button in their User Account, allowing them to click it and unsubscribe. Currently, users can unsubscribe through their Paypal account.
The Cancel URL is indeed the URL a user goes to when they cancel before paying for a subscription. I will add a Feature Request to add an option which will remove the user account entirely if a user cancels their subscription. Currently, the role that a user has purchased is removed at the end of term of the subscription, which happens once a user has cancelled their subscription and the term runs out. But the user account is not removed, opening up the option for the user to upgrade their membership by purchasing another or the same subscription again.

I think I understand how it works now... but would it be possible for the Drupal account to be automatically deleted along with the Paypal account?
I can see how it would be useful to retain a Drupal account if it was possible to resubscribe to Paypal from this acc., but this doesn't seem possible.
Also, am I right in saying that the custom Cancel URL in the 'Advanced Settings' is for when someone cancels halfway through the signup process, rather than when an existing Paypal account is cancelled?
