Couple of questions before I purchase

Hi,

Ive just set up my first membership site tonight using one of the free modules.

I had one complaint already that the buying process was too cumbersome.

Basically the user wanted to purchase the membership without having to go through the process of signing up for a profile first.

I see on your site when I tested out your cart it had the option to sign up on the order page as well as generate a profile automatically.  This seems like a lot better solution so I can capture impulse buys.

Does your membership script work the same way as your own cart on this site?

Also is it possible with your module to have a one time fee for a 'lifetime' membership?

The one Ive got now has an option to cancel re-ucurring  but it seems to cancel their subscription in the process which is no good as it kills the role status in the process so they loose access.

If it makes a difference I'm using the content profile module to make custom profiles as nodes which I believe intercepts the registration process, or at least creates a node based off of that information.  Would this conflict at all?

lastly what is the breadcrumb module you're using?

Thanks,

Jesse

I see. Yeah, I tried the LM

I see. Yeah, I tried the LM Paypal module as well a couple of years ago, and I found the same thing, that users should be able to choose a Membership Option AS they are creating their account, not after. That's what my Membership Suite module does (along with MANY other things).

Another problem was that when they canceled their subscription with LM Paypal, it will immediately remove the role from the user, ignoring any time that was left in the membership (time they had paid for). Membership Suite will mark the membership as Canceled, but it won't remove the role from the user until the End of Term, ensuring the user isn't cheated of any time they paid for.

My site (moneyscripts.net) is not running Membership Suite, it is a custom module that I built specifically to sell and track Software and their Updates.

My demo site (http://www.members.leightonwhiting.com) shows you some of the workflow and features of Membership Suite.

Leighton, Hi thanks for the

Leighton,

Hi thanks for the info, thats the main 2 issues sorted then.

Lastly how does your script handle things directly after their payment goes through?

With LM Paypal they had to wait for a confirmation email, then log out of their account and back in again.  With your script is it possible to send them back to the membership site already logged in and authorized to view their purchased content?

Essentially I want to redirect them right into the membership area upon completion of the payment.

Jesse, Yes, there is no need

Jesse,
Yes, there is no need for an Authorization Email or anything. There is an option to log the user in and activate their account immediately after they are redirected from PayPal to your site, so they arrive at your site already logged in and ready to go, with the role added and ready to view your Premium Content.

You can also specify any page for them to return to, your membership page for example.

As of Membership Suite 6.4,

As of Membership Suite 6.4, there is a Migrate function that allows you to migrate your data from LM PayPal. To see how this works, check out the tutorial: http://www.moneyscripts.net/tutorials/membership-suite/how-migrate-lm-pa...
