So, yes, MoneyScripts "works out of the box as advertised." Love it.

Can someone recommend the simplest way to allow members (user role == member) to freely download (and even play) an mp3 file but non-members have to buy the file as a one time purchase?

I already have MoneyScripts Membership Suite and thought about an additional "1 file" membership which gets disabled with the dl hook, but that seems pretty cumbersome for folks wanting two files (and a bit hackish to boot). I would like to avoid purchasing and learning Moneyscripts File Downloads Suite for this simple task if possible.

Thanks

Bronius, Selling files is

Bronius,
Selling files is tricky business, especially if you want them to be secure (not accessible unless the user really has purchased them). File Downloads Suite takes care of those things, and I really do recommend it for any site trying to sell File Downloads.

That being said, if you really want to just use Membership Suite, you could create a content type that is only accessible by users who have the role that the membership sells, and then upload the files as an attachment to that content type. This would ensure that only users with the role can access the download page. It won't stop people from sharing download links though, and it won't give any control over how many times the file can be downloaded, or how many IP addresses can download it.

Also, I'm not sure how you would sell the files to Non-Members without File Downloads Suite. Ubercart has a file downloads solution, are you using that?

Sincerely,

Thanks Leighton for

Thanks Leighton for entertaining my request.. On the one hand, I am hoping to save some bucks, but for File Downloads Suite "just works" as readily as Membership Suite, then the price is well worth the cost savings in time and aspirin. On the other hand, I want to minimize the clutter of interconnected logic on the site-- that's why (to answer your question) I've not yet gone the route of Ubercart or another lm_paypal attempt just for this one requirement.

Not sure if I'm providing valuable info with this reply or just explaining my situation better, but in the end, the original requirement is king: have files that members can freely download or non-members can pay for per-file. It looks like I should have a look at your other module suite.
