it seems quite straight forward, but i cannot make it work.

i created a node/1 page, then at the core settings, i put node/1 into Thank-you page field. I also tried override the value when i added new membership plan, but it always goes to homepage after i created a new account.

btw, the membership is free, not through paypal. would it affect anything?

The Thank-You page is the

The Thank-You page is the page the user is directed to once they have paid for an order. Free memberships as such wouldn't be redirected to the Thank-You page, because they aren't handled by the MS Core Order System.
