I deleted a membership for a person in the memberships area, this person was not a paypal payer (they paid in person at a meeting with a check). When I go into users area the person still exists and has full access to the site.
Am I supposed to delete their user account as well? Is there a set up problem (i.e am I supposed to set somewhere that a delete will cause their Roles to be taken away)? Is it a misunderstanding in what the delete button does? Or is it a bug?

Deleting a membership currently doesn't do anything to the user roles or the user account, it merely deletes the Membership record in the database. If you want to remove the roles from a specific membership, you can instead of deleting the membership record, edit it and set the membership status to inactive.
