In this case user 1239 has two different expiration dates...June 27, 2010 and July 1, 2011. How can I show in a user area that his membership is current? I currently check his status but right now it shows expired, how can I get the correct status to display on the front page of the user account?

It should already be showing the membership in his user account if it is active, which it looks like it is. Users can have multiple records in the database. It looks like in this case the first membership expired and he bought a new membership. Are your membership plans recurring or non-recurring?
Also, can you upgrade to the latest version? There are some new features added related to how users renew their membership.
