I am developing a site where you can pay to publish ads for which Pay to Publish seems a perfect module.
However, I also have membership plans (gold, silver) that enables users to publish a certain amount of ads of a certain type (the same types as the individually bought ones). This can be recurring plans or one time deals. I can't really find if this is possible in Pay to Publish or if I need Membership Suite for that (will even work together?).
Could you please advise me?
It sounds like you are doing sort of a 'credit' system, where users get a certain number of ads to publish. This would not be supported by either module out of the box. You would need to make a custom module to keep track of how many 'credits' the users have left.
Pay to Publish is great for letting users pay each time they want to publish a piece of content.
Membership Suite is great for letting Gold Members for example publish as many nodes of a certain content type as they want.
Both modules can be used together on one site just fine.
