Hello Leighton,
I looked through and searched the forums for the ability to create tiered pricing for a group of users and didn't find many relevant topics in the forum.
I did see the thread regarding shared emails which I have to agree is very un-drupal, and any authentication system for that matter, in its use. But my need is for something close to the notion the user was getting at.
We do a lot of user tutorials on this site, and I'd like to offer subscription discounts based on user groups over a time period. $X for 1 user on an annual subscription, $Y for 2-6 users, and $Z for unlimited users. I saw that the shopping cart does include discounts, so I guess I could force all users in a group to use the same discount code to get the individualized pricing down to the appropriate level, but this is more hands on with the account creation process than I would like to be. I would have to speak with the person and find out their needs in order to issue a specific discount code rather than just letting them see what tier they fall into and purchase.
I know I can create the subscription based on the group price, but it would then only be applied to the user that purchased and wouldn't go over the entire group. Have you encountered anyone with a need to have that split over multiple users (other than ones sharing email)?
I liked the idea from another thread regarding the creation of an OG on the membership purchase trigger. I wonder if I created a private group on purchase and let the group administrator be the owner of the subscription and tie the subscription to the og node rather than the my material node types. Then just allow permissions to view content based on group access???
Maybe? I don't know. Any suggestions from the user group on how tiered pricing could be implemented is much appreciated and welcomed.
Thanks,
Steve
