I'd love to provide affiliates a page which they could use to sign up for my affiliate program. Is there a functionality in Affliate Suite to provide such a page?

I searched for it but could not find anything.

Michael, Yes, Affiliates

Michael,

Yes, Affiliates Suite has an option to require users to sign up before they can become an affiliate. The sign up page is in their user account, a tab called 'Affiliates' I think...

I see. But my affiliates do

I see. But my affiliates do not have a user account. I don't have a free membership on my website. As far as I can see, adding a free membership option is showing up as an option on the checkout page - which would confuse my buyers.

On the other hand purchasing a paid membership is no option for affiliates. They would like to promote a book sold via filedownload suite, not a membership.

Any idea where I can send them to sign up?

I just found the setting for

I just found the setting for removing the membership from the standard registration page /user/register. This way this page could serve as a registration page for affiliates. I just need to direct clients to checkout page (/purchase/1) instead of the registration page.

The process for affiliates would still be a bit cumbersome (first registering, accepting the TOS for the their non-existant membership, then click on edit for the paypal address, click on "affiliates" for their links - not for their affiliates :-). All a bit strange, but I guess technically it is working. However, maybe I still overlook a more elegant method. I don't think this way is intended.

Yes, essentially that is how

Yes, essentially that is how it works if you don't want your affiliates to also be members. You need to use a separate user registration page.

One thing you can do is instead of having the users accept the affiliate terms of use on the page, you can simply start them out with the affiliate role already after they register. You can do this with autoassign role or just make the authenticated users have affiliate rights, or you can create a free membership plan with no expiration called 'Affiliate' and have it grant the affiliate role.

Hope some of those ideas help.

Sincerely,
