If I had a store with regular products/services as well as file downloads - would it be better to use DC's file download capabiltiies or integrate the DC store together with file downloads suite somehow? Is that possible?
Thanks - then I suppose the only problem would be two seperate shopping carts if running side by side?
That's right, you wouldn't be able to have the files and other products in the same cart, for example.

Commerce and MS Core (File Downloads Suite) can run side by side without issues, so you could really go either way. If you already have products with Drupal Commerce, then adding the File Downloads to it won't be too hard, so just sticking with Drupal Commerce might be better for your case. File Downloads Suite does offer some additional features and things but Drupal Commerce will get the job done as well.
