I just purchased the Bonus pack, mostly for the MS Gift Card feature. It seems like a great module! But how does it integrate with MS Memberships? Do you have to already be a member before you can redeem a Gift Card? Or can non-members redeem a gift card as they sign up for the first time?

The MS Gift Cards module was meant to be a solution for selling physical gift cards printed with the redemption code. So it has a page to generate the code numbers for cards. You don't have to already be a member before you redeem them. There is a redemption page where users can go to (yoursite.com/giftcard). Note that the giftcard needs to be activated before it can be redeemed.
The reasoning behind that is the merchants who resell the gift cards will got to (yoursite.com/activate) when they sell the card, and then you as the company can charge them later for the activation. It also is a security measure incase the cards are stolen.
You can of course simply activate the cards when you generate them, and send out the codes to members for free if you want.
I had another module I built for a client called Gift Memberships, which allowed users to purchase gift memberships and send them to a friend. The friend could then login and have the membership activated for their account. Maybe I should get that included in the Bonus Pack as well...
