Hope everyone had a good time during the holidays! A New Year is here and that means changes!
The big change is the new licensing system I spent the past few weeks coding. If you go to Your Account, there is a new tab called 'My Software'.
Here you can see and manage all of the licenses you have purchased. You can also download any of the releases for your software, and view release notes. This means that Release Notes will no longer be found in the forums. This also means that you will be able to download any version of the software you have purchased, not just the most recent one. There is also a 'Domains' section for each module, showing you which domains are using your license. You can remove domains that you are no longer using. Each license supports the software on up to 5 domains. To clarify a little, the license you purchase is a support and updates license, allowing you to get support and updates for the module you purchased for up to 5 domains. Underneath the Domains section you will see your public and private keys. You will use these to register your software once you have installed it.
This new system will allow you to receive update notifications on your site when an update is released for your software. It will also allow you to download the newest release straight from your site.
I spent a lot of long hours backporting all of the features in the modules to Drupal 5.x, so now each module has a fully supported 5.x release! I will do the same when Drupal 7.x comes out. When 7.x comes out, 5.x will no longer be supported, but changes will still be backported to 6.x.
Another change is that the files are now archived as .tar.gz files, to comply with Drupal best practices and make uploading and unpacking the modules that much faster.
These changes will make managing and maintaining your software easier and more intuitive.
I have some killer new features planned for the modules this coming year, so keep an eye out for updates!
Happy Holidays,
Leighton Whiting
