In this tutorial, I will show how to migrate your membership site from LM PayPal to MS Membership Suite 6. New in Membership Suite 6.4 is the ability to automatically migrate the 'Subscriptions' and 'Subscribers' from LM PayPal to become 'Membership Plans' and 'Memberships' respectively in Membership Suite.

Before starting, I recommend making a backup of all your files and database tables. This is good practice whenever performing an update or migration.

The first thing you will need to do is disable (but NOT uninstall) LM PayPal. MS PayPal WPS will add a listener for the LM PayPal IPNs, essentially taking over the job of LM PayPal, so that is why LM PayPal cannot run at the same time anymore. The reason we don't uninstall yet is because the data that will be imported is in the database tables, and uninstalling LM PayPal before importing the data will erase all of the data.

Once LM PayPal is disabled, enable Membership Suite, MS PayPal WPS, and all other MS modules that you may need. If you already have Membership Suite running, you are good to go.

Next, go to Administer->MoneyScripts->Membership Suite Settings->Migrate LM PayPal. The url would be http://www.yoursite.com/admin/moneyscripts/ms_membership/lm_paypal . You should see this page:

Now, click the 'Migrate' button and watch the magic!

You should see the following message when it is done:

Now, you should go in and check that the Membership Plan was created and that all of the settings are correct. Go to Site Building->Membership Plans to see the plans. You should also change any of the LM PayPal tokens you were using in the Email Templates to the new Membership Suite tokens. Feel free to change any of the settings or activate new features.

You should also go and check that the Memberships were created. You can see this in User Management->Memberships. You can edit any of the memberships that may need things changed.

Next stop is to check up on the Settings for MS PayPal WPS, MS Core, and Membership Suite. You can find their settings in the Administration->MoneyScripts area. MS PayPal WPS will be in the Gateways section. You will need to set your PayPal email there.

Your site is now migrated and you can now safely uninstall the LM PayPal modules.
